After the holidays and the semester of eating anything I wanted I am regretting the soft ring around my abdomen and the few extra unwanted pounds. So, just as anyone else, I am trying a diet. This diet however is unlike any other diet. It is so hard-core that any individual is supposed to lose about 10 pounds in a week. Let me tell you how hard core it is.
Every morning I eat "bird seed" cereal which consists of wheat, sunflower seeds, and almonds all soaked overnight in water (which makes them big and fat and apparently more healthy) with a few raisins (to make the breakfast worth eating) and milk. Then I drink this concoction of about 9 different veggetables, water and pineapple, all blended together in a blender. For lunch and dinner I eat a hearty salad with 13 vegetables with "spike" homemade dressing drizzled on top. And that's what I have, every day. My snacks (if the everlasting and ever-abundant salad doesn't fill me up...) include carrot sticks, one or two fruits a day (not including citrus- which is against the diet rules for some reason) and celery and peanut butter (which is truly a treat). So do you think losing 10 pounds with this diet is possible? Well, neither do I. If on track, I would have lost six pounds by the end of today. I have only lost 3- if our scale is correct. I am so frustrated. With no wiggle room to cheat and so much self-discipline that I can't even have a slice of bread, nibble of cheese, taste of chocolate, or bite of meat, I am extremely mad that all there is to show for it are 3 measly pounds.
Things I have learned from this diet include:
how much self discipline and control I have that I thought I didn't have; that I need to eat smaller portions in every meal, eat healthier meals and food, stay away from or at least limit my intake of high-calorie, high-cholesterol, and overall, unhealthy foods, and excersize daily; I have learned how important being healthy is. So, in posts to come, I will share pictures of this glorious diet and my experience in it! Hope you enjoy!

Hey, three pounds, that's great! The 10-lbs in a week claim is a lie. The only way to lose that much weight in a week is to get food poisoning and vomit and/or poop your guts out for a week. And that method is less than healthy... :)
Seriously though, it's not healthy to lose weight that fast and you'd probably regain some of it after you started eating normally again.
Just make sure you exercise and get enough but not too many calories. It's that simple!
Agreed. I don't care if David was able to do it. He was also exercizing a ton for wrestling while he was doing it. And it still doesn't make it healthy.
One word: MODERATION. If you kept a strict log of every single thing that you ate for a whole week, you'd get a pretty good idea of what your weaknesses are. Once you've identified what times of day, what foods and what stresses trigger extra snacking and overeating, then you can work on eliminating those. Stop buying them, don't have them in sight. I did that for my nutrition class, and it was really eye-opening. I was also able to identify the nutrients I wasn't getting enough of and work on adding more of those to my diet.
Also, excercize is key when trying to lose weight. You want your energy expended to be greater than the total calories you consume. It's a pretty simple equation. Good luck!
